Friends and colleagues at Asbury,

It has been a privilege to work by your side for these past 5 years at Asbury. Through the joyous times and through the difficult moments it is good to know that there are people who care and are also dedicated to serve the Lord. I often thought as I was out for my morning jog or as my phone app for counting steps deemed it walking, life is full of easy moments and hard ones. I always started up hill so when I got to the corner of Asbury and 38th the hardest was over. It was not all down after that but it was easier.

It was not easy deciding when to retire but it seemed an appropriate time. What I will treasure the most is being at bedside or in a living room sharing life and the love of Jesus. It was a precious time Joyce and I spent at Asbury many lifelong friendships were developed. That we will treasure the most of all things.

Thank you for the many well wishes our last Sunday and the calls from those who could not be there. The gifts were great but the thoughts and even a few tears shed were even more precious. A thousand thanks and many a prayer for you all. We will continue to think of you and say a prayer for you all.

I’m amazed at how quickly the five years flew by. In the words of Paul, Philippians 1:9-11(NLT)
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God. “

I do not care about a legacy that I leave behind in the words of Solomon, Ecclesiastes 1:11(NLT)
“We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.” But eternity will tell the real work that was done. We love you all and ask for God’s blessing in your lives.

In Christ Service and yours,

Pastor Bruce

We leave Jared and Elaine to be part of your fellowship and care and love.
